why

For what purpose, reason, or cause; with what intention, justification, or motive.

The definition does not seem to adequately encompass the defined.

Hi ck, looks like some deep thinking your having there. If I was writing a definition of 'why' I would put: "For what purpose, reason, or cause; with what intention, justification, or motive, and also a bloody hard question!"

Hello, I was wondering what prompted this line of thought?

Welcome. Well I've been unable to shake this depression all week and as I've been thinking about it I haven't been able to logically justify any reason for it, which is really anoying.

Hi guys, have you noticed that 'why' with an 'h' on the front is hwhy, which backwards becomes YHWH, the name of God! I wonder if that is somehow related to God supposing to have all the answers? Everyone always says there is a reason for everything...

Hi everyone. I'm not surprised to see this issue raise such interest in so many people. It's a complex one, for sure.

I think your proposed definition is too restrictive, CK, because it implies that every 'why' is difficult to answer; which it doesn't always have to be.

CK. I'm sorry to hear that you've been unable to shake your depression. Maybe, as Yoda said, there is no why, and maybe, as Homer said, it's just a bunch of stuff that happens?

I hadn't noticed that, CK! Thanks for pointing it out. I'm wondering though, what the significance of the 'h' that you're adding is? There are countless words that you can add depth or meaning to by adding just a single letter. 'Why' with an h might be the name of God backwards, but how does that relate to the word 'why' just by itself?

Keep up the questioning everyone. It's the only way to discover answers.

It's not about turning why into YHWH, but that YHWH contains why, thus the 'h' is not significant. And I feel a lot better since I talked to the green dragon, thank you.

It's all inside you. Think about it.
